Tipi - Cut from a tarp
It's time to share another YouTube find.
Lonnie, over at Far North Bushcraft And Survival on YouTube, has posted a fantastic video tutorial for making a tipi from a tarp.
I, personally, am an avid hammock camper. However, I have been wanting to make a hot tent for winter camping (currently I hammock camp all 4 seasons), so when I found this video I was thrilled.
I have not yet decided what size I will be making mine, but I think I will try to make it from a canvas painters drop cloth, rather than a poly tarp.
Rather than purchasing a stove jack, I will make my own using a section of welding blanket (its cheaper than a pre-made, and I could make multiple from the blanket).
If you're not into winter camping, this technique could easily be adapted to make an extremely light tent for summer use, by using either silnylon or standard ripstop nylon and waterproofing it yourself.
